Swiss-born Alexander Agassiz (1835-1910) immigrated to the United States, where he attended Harvard to study engineering, chemistry, and marine ichthyology. Agassiz developed an interest in mining, and later donated $500,000 of his mining fortune to Harvard's Museum of Comparative Zoology in the early 1870s.This letter, to a Alexander Ramsay (1822-1909) and written on Museum of Comparative Zoology of Harvard College letterhead, discusses the exchange of the Museum's scientific journals in exchange for , of which Ramsay was editor.
